Arif and Amanda
came to tutoring on Wednesday. I always
send them an email reminder ahead of time, but these two only showed up. We started off talking about present
participles, infinitives, and gerunds because they both had a lot of questions
about them. I tried my best to explain,
and I wrote many example sentences on the board. I think they understood the concepts pretty
well, but I am going to do some research and talk about them again in our next
session. After that, we started going through an adjective PowerPoint that I
had prepared from the adjective list that I gave them last week. On each slide I included the vocabulary word
and a picture. I tried to make the
pictures intriguing and funny so that the visual aids would be more effective. They seemed to enjoy doing this. We talked through each word and came up with
synonyms and example scenarios to make sure that they understood. I like the
way our tutoring sessions are very interactive.
I can tell that they really want to learn. I emailed all of my tutees the PowerPoint,
and we plan to finish going over it next week.
