Nicole TP5 -(CIES Ahmed)

Today I had my usual Wednesday meeting scheduled with Ahmed and Sultan, we decided to switch it up and meet at the Sweet Shop. Sultan had to cancel last minute so it was just Ahmed and I. It was nice to have some one on one time toegther, it really helped me evaluate where he is at. Ahmed's progression has been incredible even over the just a few short weeks, it reminds me of the diagram Ms. Kim drew on the board today. He informed me that after this session he hopes to move to California, where his cousine is in graduate school. We started our meeting by setting some short term and long term goals.
Ahmed wanted to work on speaking and listening so we started off by talking about our weekends. I told him about the wedding I went to which led to an in depth conversation and vocabulary lesson on marriage, weddings, husbands, wives, brides, grooms, and all other things of that nature. I told him all about teh delicious things I ate at the wedding leading us into a conversation about our favorite foods and what we liked to cook. Ahmed loves seafood, he asked where the best seafood in Tallahassee was and invited me to join him in dinning there when he accomplished the goal's that we layed out earlier in the meeting. This led us into a conversation about seafood and sea animals. We went over words such as crab, scallop, shrimp, conch, and lobster. Not only did we chat about these creatures but we learned where they came from, how they were commonly prepared, and talked about if they could be found in Kuwait. Towards teh end of our time I asked Ahmed to write down every word he remembered and put it in a corresponding sentence, he did a fantastic job coming up with 15 sentences. I praised him on the excellent content and led him step by step through self error correction. I enjoyed this session immensely, mainly because Ahmed is so passionate about advancing in his abilities so that his future in California can eventually be one of fluency.
