Moses TP (child) - 1

The name of my tutee is Woo Joo and he is a bright young man attending middle school at Deerlake Middle School here in Tallahassee.

In our first session, we spoke a for about fifteen minutes and I gave him a few quizzes on grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary to try to find the level we needed to work at.  He seemed to me to be on grade-level in most areas and his biggest problem was, typical of a young man, rushing through his work and not carefully reviewing his answers.  When we discussed the quizzes, he always knew what he had done wrong.

In our discussions, he told me that his biggest problem was in earth science.  He had issues learning the new vocabulary of scientific terms.  We decided that in future sessions, he would send me a vocabulary list on Fridays and on Sundays we would work on vocabulary meaning and pronunciation.  I told him that there were a few simple rules for vowels that would really help him "sound out" the vocabulary words.

I think in addition to working on his earth science vocabulary, a game like scrabble could be fun and helpful helping him expand his vocabulary.  We will probably try it in a future session.
