My fourth tutoring
session with Jun consisted of us reading and discussing his science book again. We reviewed magnets and did the chapter
review questions on all of the topics of the chapter. He wrote a few of his own example sentences
as well. I quizzed Jun on basic
principles of magnets, force, work, simple machines, and more. If he were not sure about something, I would
give him scenarios and examples and then ask him questions to make sure he
understood. I always give him a high
five when it’s evident that he now understands the concept, which makes him
excited. It took him longer to
understand some concepts more than others, but that’s ok.
After that, he
showed me his books about anacondas that he was supposed to have an AR test on
the next day. Jun read the book to me,
and I asked him comprehension questions after each page. He said that his mom did not want to review
that book with him earlier because it terrified her to even look at the
pictures of the snakes. I thought that
was pretty funny. I helped Jun with the
pronunciation of “boa” and had to get him to slow down while reading every now
and then, but other than that he did a good job. I even learned something while reading with
him; apparently, anacondas can have up to 82 babies at once. They can get up to 500 pounds and about 26
feet long. That’s crazy.
Jun’s mom took a
cute picture of us to remember me by:
