Seeing as this was the first time meeting with this conversation partner, we decided just to sit and chat for a little while. We started off talking about school and what he wanted to do after CIES. He had yet to make up his mind, but he knew he wanted to go into some kind of engineering. I was surprised that he was unsure. He is the first student I have talked to that does not seem to have every second of their life planned out. We talked a little about different kinds of engineering, it was a little tough because of the vocabulary, but he seemed to like learning it and made a lot of notes. He was intent on talking about south Florida. It seems to be very popular with the students. He wanted to know about any schools what had campuses close to a beach, and to Orlando. I did a Google search on my phone and showed him some different places. The topic of the beach quickly moved to sports. He loves “football,” and even though I don’t play that often, we are setting up a time to go play around at Tom Brown with some of the other students. We are also going to play some disk golf fairly soon as well. There was not too much else. We talked about random stuff for a while more, and called it a day. As it was the first time we were meeting, there were no real outings or events, but we planned some things for the near future
